Welcome
to High Caliber Bulldogs! High Caliber is a partnership
of 2 boyhood friends. We grew up in Baltimore, Maryland and
have known each other for 25 years. Today, John
and Chad live with their families
in Northern Maryland.
We got started
in Bulldogs when we purchased our first girl “Lulu” and
our first male “Bear” from
Joann Menefee of Phenix Bulldogs in Florida. Joann has
been and continues to be an excellent mentor to both of
us. We started by attending obedience classes which ultimately
resulted in both “Bear” and “Lulu” attaining
their CGC (Canine Good Citizen) titles. Recently, Bear
has completed his championship in Conformation becoming
High Caliber’s 1st Champion! “Bear” & “Lulu’s” first
litter produced 4 outstanding puppies one of which is our
newest show male High Caliber’s
Smokin’ Aces.
At this time several of our other show dogs are quickly
approaching the completion of their Confirmation titles.
Making
the decision to purchase a new puppy is one that should
only be made after careful consideration. The decision you
make today is one that requires years of commitment from
you. We recommend taking the time to educate
yourself on
the Bulldog breed to ensure the breed is right for you. We
recommend taking the time to research veterinarians in your
area that are knowledgeable in the Bulldog breed. We also
recommend carefully screening all prospective breeders that
you are considering purchasing your puppy from. Your breeder
should be able to provide you with a list of references as
well as show you all their dogs. Your breeder is someone
that should be there for you throughout the life of your
dog.
We are proud members of the Bulldog
Club of America as
well as several local clubs in the Mid Atlantic. Being
a member of the Bulldog Club of America as well as local
clubs has proven to be a great way to further educate ourselves
about the breed and meet wonderful bulldoggers. If you
own a Bulldog or you are thinking about purchasing a Bulldog
we recommend joining the Bulldog Club of America and your
local club.
As Bulldog breeders we operate under the Bulldog
Club of America’s Breeder Code of Ethics. We are
focused on breeding healthy Bulldogs with good temperaments
that are correct to the breed standard. The decision to
breed one of our girl’s is taken very seriously.
A breeding is done only after veterinarian consultation
and careful research of both dog’s pedigrees as well
as the specific needs of our line. We typically will do
1 to 2 breedings a year in hopes of gaining our next show
prospects. Any dogs that we do not keep for our breeding
program are placed into pet homes after a careful screening
and are done so on a strict spay / neuter contract.
